Tummy Tuck
General Information
The abdominal region of the body is one that childbirth, weight gain or loss, aging and/or various surgeries lead to issues with self-confidence. Because of this, at Beleza Plastic Surgery in Pittsburgh-Pennsylvania, we’ve learned to improve abdominal contour and sculpt the abdomen to yield a more harmonious appearance with the rest of the body. An incision is made just above the pubic line and removal of fat and skin is performed through this incision yielding an inconspicuous scar.
Abdominoplasty, also known as tummy tuck, is an operation perfomed by our Pittsburgh Surgeons to make the abdomen more flat and toned. The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. This type of surgery is usually sought by patients with loose skin and muscles after pregnancy or individuals with sagging after major weight loss. The amount of fat and skin removed varies by doctor, method, and patient, but it is typically less than 10 pounds. Liposuction performed at the time of a tummy tuck procedure provides optimal results in some patients. During the consultation, Dr Wooten at Beleza Plastic Surgery - Pittsburgh and the patient make the decision on what will be done. Tummy tuck operations vary in scope and are frequently subdivided into categories. Depending on the extent of the surgery, a complete abdominoplasty can take 1 to 5 hours. A partial abdminoplasty or “mini-tummy tuck” can be completed in 1 to 2 hours by our Surgeon here at our Pittsburgh, PA office.
The most encouraging aspect of this cosmetic procedure is that this is a permanent procedure. This means the results will be long lasting, especially with proper nutrition and exercise to maintain the body’s shape.
