Dr. Wooten graduated from the University of Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, and continued her medical training with a Residency in General and Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Wooten continues to give many informative presentations on current topics and issues in plastic surgery, such as vertical reduction mammoplasty, short scar breast lift, various approaches to breast augmentation, lower extremity lymphedema, and gender reassignment surgery. Her clarity and comprehensive knowledge of such topics have garnered her excellent feedback from other surgeons and students of medicine. She is the principal Author and Co-Author of several surgery-related publications on topics such as Post Bariatric Plastic Surgery, Breast Conservation, Management of Anticoagulation during Preoperative Coetaneous Surgery, and Reconstruction of Abdominal Wall Defects.
A commitment to research reflects Dr. Wooten's passion for the progress being made in the field of plastic surgery. Her past and current participation in research projects has focused on: the treatment of cubical tunnel syndrome, the use of the anticoagulant warfarin in cutaneous surgeries, obstructive sleep apnea in patients with pharyngeal flaps, the Boomerang procedure for correction of gynecomastia.
She recently received an Award for the Best Reconstructive Paper from the American Society of Plastic Surgery at their National meeting in Pasadena, California.
Dr. Wooten has further perfected the Art & Technique of Plastic Surgery by working with International Renowned Plastic Surgeons in Canada ( from the founders of vertical mastopexy/vertical reduction ) and Brazil ( to learn the unique technique of a vertical mastopexy with pectoralis sling, subfascial breast augmentation, and endoscopic facial rejuvenation)
Dr Wooten also devotes her time to charitable Surgery beyond the Borders of the US - such as Honduras - to operate on disadvantaged children with multiple congenital birth defects, including the absence of an ear, and cleft lip or palate.
